New Year's Eve in Porto 2025/2026

Porto, our beloved city, becomes something truly special when the festive season arrives. The streets glow with lights, the air carries the scent of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, and every corner invites you to slow down and savor the magic. Porto 2025-2026 .

From December’s first breath, the Crystal Palace Gardens burst into life with music,

crafts, and joy.

Wander through Jardim da Cordoaria, where local artists transform trees into living art and Santa himself greets the little ones with twinkling eyes.

The Christmas Market in Jardim de João Chagas (Cordoaria) is a meeting point for those seeking unique gifts, seasonal cuisine, and experiences for the whole family.

What to find at the Christmas Market:

Crafts and regional products

Christmas in Porto wouldn't be the same without the traditional attractions that delight little ones:

Natural Ice Trail – Open to the public for family fun.

Parisian Carousel – Exclusively for children up to 10 years old.

Free admission with tickets available at the respective locations.

Flavors of Christmas in Porto

The Christmas spirit is also felt in the cuisine, with traditional flavors that warm up cold days.

What to try:

French toast and sonhos (sweet pastries)

Aletria (vermicelli) and bolo rei (king cake)

Port wine and typical hot drinks

Religious Traditions and Celebrations

For those seeking moments of reflection and spirituality, the city offers religious celebrations such as Midnight Mass and sacred music concerts in iconic churches.

Porto's Christmas program extends until Three Kings Day (January 6th), ensuring five weeks of festivities, light, and tradition.

At the Serralves Foundation, gourmet delights and handmade treasures await—perfect for those who love authenticity and elegance.

And oh, the flavors! Francesinha, Bacalhau, Pasteis de Nata… paired with a glass of Porto wine or vinho Quente, it’s a feast for the senses.

Then comes the crescendo: New Year's Eve. Avenida dos Aliados pulsates with the most famous celebration, where everyone awaits the New Year, keeping an eye on the clock tower of Porto City Hall, memorable for the fireworks that streak across the buildings, and for the popular concerts, music, and celebration, leading to a countdown that echoes throughout the city. But the real show? The fireworks display over the Douro River, from private boats and cruise ships carrying people—a dazzling dance of lights reflected on the water, best seen from Ribeira, Gaia, or aboard a boat with a drink in hand and good company by your side.

The Crystal Palace will host the same multimedia show, providing an alternative for those who want to celebrate the New Year in another area of the city.

The Traditional New Year's Concert in Aliados

On January 1st, the city upholds tradition and ushers in the New Year with a special show.

New Year's Concert with the Portuguese Symphonic Band

This festive, free, outdoor concert features a classical repertoire and celebrates the New Year in an elegant and memorable way.

Let me show you Porto as it dreams.
